One of the biggest "surprise" tornado outbreaks, David Bellmore and I were able to nab a couple low-contrast tornadoes in a soupy environment near Kankakee. Several case studies are available on this event.

A little easier to see. You can only see the condensation funnel, but the tornado was doing damage.
A little better lighting, but still terrible haze.
The second tornado is on the ground now, but it was hard enough to see in real life, let alone on a crappy video capture. You can kind of make out the left side of the tornado anyway.
